I wrote my first wirecraft book in 1997 when I started teaching. This is the thirteenth book in the series which includes a beginning book and twelve advanced books.

Special thanks to Gail Allen and Kathy Morris. Gail has provided editorial comment on the books for a number of years, and Kathy has designed and maintained my website.

As in past years, I am thankful for the people who were willing to share their designs with me. They include: Barbara Chadwick (Bracelet with Wire Bead #2), Bobbie Chumack (Chandelier Earrings), Cheri Dowd (Coiled Hoop Earrings), Mel Long (Snap SetEarrings), Pat Peters (Pendant with Beads), Ruth Ann Moore (Crystal Overlay Bracelet), and Gene Sheridan (Change-a-cab Pendant #2 and Pendant with Two Bails).

Other designs in the book are either mine, or they are based on classical or commercial jewelry pieces. However, all of the procedures in this book were written and illustrated by me, and the techniques described are ones I used in making jewelry.

Many students in my classes last year tested draft versions of these procedures. I appreciate their many helpful comments and suggestions.

Included after the Table of Contents are four pages of photographs of jewelry made based on the procedures in this book. I hope you will find them useful.

Any suggestions you have for improving this or my other books would be greatly appreciated. Also, please contact me if you have a design you are willing to share with me for a future book.

I have been asked by many people over the years why I have animals on the covers of the books and where the photographs were taken. I started using animals on the covers in 1997 because they were the only interesting sketches in the computer program I used then. If I had owned a digital camera at that time, I probably would have put a photograph of one of the jewelry pieces on the cover. Once I started using animals, I just continued. I used photographs instead of sketches starting with Volume 6. I photographed the fox, turtle, and deer on Volumes 6, 7 and 9 in my back yard. I took the photos of the parrots (Volume 8) in Grand Cayman, the cat's paw (Volume 10) at the Hemingway house in Key West, the laughing gull (Volume 11) at Edisto Beach in SC and the flamingos (Volume 12) in Bonaire.
